Creating a Randomised Test

Easily diversify your assessments in Ideagen Academy by creating a randomised test. Simply configure the test settings to include a random selection of questions from your question pool, providing a varied and comprehensive evaluation for learners.
1. Creating a Randomised Test
You can create a test where the questions are randomly selected from a pool of questions. Once all your test questions have been created for the lesson (see Adding Test Questions).
1.1 Accessing Tests
- Select Go to tests from the Add Content button on the course dashboard.
1.2 Creating a Randomised Question Pool
- Navigate to the Questions tab, click Add Question, and choose Randomised from the question types list.
- Enter a title for the randomised pool and click Save and Select Pool Questions.
1.3 Selecting Questions for the Pool
- Choose questions for the pool by clicking the No button (turns to red when Yes is selected).
- Add all questions by clicking Add All.
- Optionally, include questions from other lessons by clicking Show Questions From, selecting the relevant lesson, and noting that changes to original questions will be reflected across all tests using them.
1.4 Creating the Randomised Test
- Return to the Tests tab and click Add Test.
- Enter the test name, an optional description, and adjust advanced settings if needed.
- Click Save and Select Questions.
1.5 Selecting Questions for the Test
- Choose the randomised test by clicking the No button.
- Specify the number of questions to be randomly selected by clicking the arrow and choosing from the drop-down list.
- Alternatively, set criteria-based randomisation by selecting Select with criteria and configuring the criteria.
1.6 Criteria-based Randomisation
- In the new window, use drop-down lists to determine the number of questions for low, medium, and/or hard difficulty levels.
- The displayed numbers are based on available questions in the pool with the specified difficulty levels.
1.7 Finalising the Randomised Test
- Click Save to complete the randomisation process.
- The randomised question pool will be visible in your question list, with the red Yes button indicating the number of included questions (shown in brackets).
